Whoa. Bedtime got a bit … interesting tonight. Jay couldn’t sleep, so I went in and helped him compose a literary “lullaby,” a chain of thoughts that create a story that might soothe him and help him sleep. The story took us all over the world, including the real Gotham City, New York, a place familiar to me and MomScribe. He wanted to know if we had ever seen Batman. Heh. No, we hadn’t. But I wish I had.
The mind trip worked. He was on the verge of ZZZZZ when I walked out of his bedroom door and heard this behind me:
“I’m in love with someone.”
I poked my head back in the door and said, “Oh?”
He said, “Yeah, I’m in love with someone. Want me to tell you who?”
I said, “Absolutely. Who is it, buddy?”
Big grin.
“Cat Woman.”
Whew. Yeah. Good night, buddy. Sweet dreams.
I think this story is so cute and I could feel your relief at the end there talk about a close call. It’s a beautiful thing that’s often overlooked: innocence.
Thanks for the kind words!
Ah yes… She is timeless isn’t she? I seem to remember preferring the Cat Woman glass as a young lad not much older than Jay back when (was it Burger King?) gave away Batman glasse in some sort of promotion. Do you remember those glasses? I suppose they ended up in a yard sale or the trash. Meow…
